Rethinking Christmas and the Holiday Season
Hi Parents of Jr. & Cherub Choirs,
This past Sunday, I taught during the education hour on "Rethinking Christmas and the Holiday Season." While the workshop was reasonably well attended, several of us noticed that one demographic that was underrepresented was the parents with children between the ages of 4-10. It was, in fact, with this part of the church that I designed the workshop. So when one of the members of the children's committee sheepishly mentioned the idea of me teaching it again sometime, I said "yes" without reservation.
This time of the year is supposed to be filled with joy and peace, but it is often lacking in both. Over the past few years, through reading, study, and plenty of trial and error, Shannon and I have begun to rethink how we, as a family, celebrate this holy season. This workshop represents many of those thoughts and experiences.
So, the one question I have for you is this: Would you like a more peaceful and joyful Christmas that is centered on Christ? If your answer is even remotely a "yes," I'm going to ask you to join me this Wednesday night (November 18th) during the children's choir practice. I'm going to teach an abbreviated, 30-minute version of Sunday's workshop for parents who bring their kids to choir (and anyone else who would like to come). Drop your kids off and join me in the fellowship hall for one of the two 30-minutes workshops. For the cherub choir, the workshop will be from 6:10-6:40 and for the Jr. choir, it will run from 6:50-7:20. Naturally, you can come to either (or both) and I'll linger both in between and after the second presentation to answer any questions.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at home. I really hope to see you there.
Blessings,
Jason Santos
