Children’s Programs

Our Children’s Ministry (Birth through 7th Grade) offers programming in these areas:

Nursery

Nursery care is offered during Worship services in our Christian Education building, adjacent to the Church. A regular, professional caregiver with years of experience provides both consistency and a loving presence on a weekly basis for our littlest members. Parents can then relax and recharge during worship service knowing their young ones are being nurtured nearby.

The nursery is open to babies and toddlers up to 3 years old beginning at 9:20am and continuing through our Fellowship Hour until 11:00am Sunday mornings.

Sunday School

Children sit with their families at the beginning of the 9:30am Worship Service. Following “Faith in Action” or the “The Learning Time for the Young of All ages”, children age 4 to 7th grade are invited to participate in our Sunday School offering. They will be escorted by adult shepherds to the Christian Education building next door where our  curriculum will be taught along with music and activities. With a solid scriptural and theological base, PC(USA)’s curriculum “Follow Me” invites leaders and learners deeper into the rhythm of the church year, utilizing Bible passages for young learners. The synergy of Worship Service, the Word with Children, Sunday School and Adult Education encourages families to experience their faith together.

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir rehearsals take place at 10:30 am most Sundays, following Sunday School, and end at 11:15 am. This free program is led by Amy Carter, Vocal Music Teacher at Village Elementary School and Dr. Ken Carter, Vocal Music Teacher at West Windsor – Plainsboro High School North. To sign-up or drop-in, contact Amy & Ken Carter at akjcarter@comcast.net. The Children’s Choir sings in worship once a month. All are welcome!

Special Events

There are often special events offered to our families during the year. In the past these have included the production of a children’s musical to be performed as a part of worship service, family game nights, and programs about specific Church traditions. Watch the weekly church announcements for information on upcoming events.

The Family Advent Workshop is a Dutch Neck tradition. Following Worship Service on the Sunday before Advent begins, the entire congregation gathers to prepare for the Advent season by assembling Advent wreaths, making things that remind us of the season’s meaning, and decorating (and eating) cookies. This event is a favorite holiday activity, full of fun and fellowship, that helps keep the season’s meaning alive.
