MLK Jr. Day Service Project

Fifteen people gathered on MLK Jr. Day to produce heart-shaped scent cloths for parents of NICU babies. Parents can wear a cloth heart close to their skin. The hearts will be placed in incubators so preemies can imprint on the smell of family members, rather than the smell of the incubator. We cut, pinned, stitched, clipped, turned, and pressed the flannel hearts. On MLK Jr. Day we started 153 hearts; by Valentine’s Day we had created 205.
