Rev. Amber Nicole Scott is the Senior Pastor of St. James AME Church (Hightstown, NJ).

She works at the National Basketball Association as a Social Responsibility Program Manager. In this role, Rev. Scott manages social justice & inclusion and civic engagement eJorts for the NBA. Her work helps to inspire players, fans and employees to appreciate the importance of social justice and positively act to impact systemic change. Her work across the league’s civic engagement initiatives help drive increased participation in American democracy during the presidential and midterm elections and beyond.

Rev. Scott joined the NBA’s Associate Program in 2013, eventually joining the NBA’s Global Partnerships team where she managed marketing and retail partnership accounts until 2018. She also co-founded the NBA’s first Black Employee Network, Dream in Color.

In the fall of 2018, Scott enrolled at Duke University, where she earned a Master of Divinity with certificates in “Faith-based Organizing, Advocacy, and Social Transformation” and “Black Church Studies.” She graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2021. After graduating from Duke, Scott returned to the NBA in June 2021 on the Social Responsibility team.

Additionally, Rev. Scott was ordained in the NJ Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She currently serves on the Duke Divinity School’s National Alumni Council. Prior to the NBA, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, she was a 4-year Varsity Women's Track & Field Athlete and initiated into the Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
